The Seoul Strategic Industries Enhancement Project aims to strengthen industrial competitiveness and expand future growth engines by connecting Seoul’s strategic industries—such as AI, semiconductors, and biotechnology—with the research and educational resources of universities.

The Activation of the Industry-Academia Collaboration Ecosystem Unit Project aims to revitalize the industry-academia-research collaboration ecosystem by promoting joint research, technology development, the branding of Industry Collaboration Centers (ICC), and the cultivation of industry-ready talent.

■ Based on Hanyang University's industry-academia cooperation capabilities and research infrastructure, the project aims to generate tangible outcomes through knowledge creation, talent development, and demand-driven industry-academia-research collaboration models.

Project Implementation Structure

  • Hanyang University's Industry-Academia Collaboration Hub and the three ICCs (AI Semiconductors, Future Mobility, and Next-Generation Energy) will connect universities, companies, research institutes, and public institutions to establish an integrated industry-academia collaboration ecosystem.

The Expansion of the AI·BIO Cluster Innovation Ecosystem (AI Sector) Unit Project aims to realize a Seoul-style AI future industry ecosystem by establishing a collaborative framework that connects universities, AI clusters, and startups.

Project Goal and Strategic Framework

■ Expand Seoul’s AI cluster innovation ecosystem by fostering university-specific specialized fields (such as Physical AI), building AI infrastructure in connection with the Seoul AI Hub (Yangjae), and nurturing AI startup companies.
(Background) Promote the innovation ecosystem by integrating university R&D infrastructure, establishing a residential AI cluster where industry and education coexist, and nurturing the Physical AI industry.
(Strategic Goal) Achieve sustainable growth of Seoul’s strategic industries through nurturing Physical AI talent and fostering the industry-academia-research ecosystem.
(Strategic Approach) Establish university-centered R&D hubs and technology diffusion centers, form consortium-based industry-academia-research collaboration ecosystems, and contribute to residential industrial clusters and the creation of a global AI hub.
(Key Activities) Build Physical AI R&D hubs and technology diffusion centers utilizing university infrastructure, create consortium-based collaboration ecosystems, foster AI talent, and promote global expansion.
(Expected Outcomes) We will strengthen the AI+Robotics research foundation, establish open collaboration and governance models, and enhance universities' social contribution capabilities. At the same time, we aim to create advanced industrial clusters, drive digital transformation and competitiveness, and foster future skills and global AI ecosystems.

Project Implementation Structure

  • Each consortium university leverages its specialized strengths to lead joint industry-academia-research projects, support AI startups and technology commercialization, and connect companies with talent to build a residential industrial ecosystem within the AI cluster.
  • Key areas of collaboration include Seoul National University focusing on efficiency and scalability, Hanyang University on robotics, University of Seoul on ICT and urban data, Kookmin University on mobility and design, and Sejong University on AI and software.
