  • Lead Department: University offices specializing in technology transfer, commercialization, startup incubation, collaborative research, and global open innovation networks
  • Key Activities: Secure core global intellectual property (IP) in national strategic technologies such as energy, batteries, and semiconductors, as well as Seoul’s specialized industries like AI and biotechnology, and achieve the success of 10 born-global startups.

The Global Industry-Academia Cooperation Leadership Unit Project aims to generate tangible outcomes in global collaboration by promoting international technology transfer, facilitating joint research with overseas universities and companies, and supporting the successful born-global expansion of university startups.

■ HY-GICP (HanYang Global Industry Collaboration Program)

  • A university-driven platform that matches corporate and university resources (talent, technology, equipment) to create high-value innovation and build a sustainable industry-academia ecosystem.
  • Facilitates proactive industry engagement based on research outcomes and provides one-stop, customized matching services for diverse collaboration needs.
  • Offers integrated programs in technology development, joint research, technology transfer, startup engagement, advanced industry education, technical consulting, shared research facilities, seminars, memberships, scholarships, and internships.

The Recruitment of International Talent in Advanced and Future Industries Unit Project aims to strengthen Seoul’s competitiveness in advanced industries by attracting international master’s and doctoral students, providing specialized education, and supporting their employment and long-term settlement.

  - Driving international student success through customized career and startup programs, a full admission-to-employment roadmap, and record-breaking outcomes.

Project Implementation Structure

  • A focused and scalable infrastructure driving university internationalization
  • We support international students in employment and entrepreneurship by collaborating with dedicated on-campus units — including the International Admissions Team, Graduate Strategy and Academic Affairs Teams, Career Development Team, and Global Entrepreneurship Center — as well as external partners such as government agencies, associations, and industries.

  • Key Activities: Operation of joint educational programs with overseas universities.

The Strengthening Global Competencies for Future Talent Unit Project aims to cultivate global future talent by enhancing the international competencies of domestic students through talent exchange and joint educational programs with overseas universities.

  • Based on the vision, we have established four strategic directions (R·I·S·E) for talent cultivation and set the development of four types of AI talent—R (Convergent), I (Global), S (Practical), and E (Settlement-Oriented)—as our mission.

  • Talent equipped with multidisciplinary thinking and the ability to solve complex problems by integrating domestic and international AI competencies.
I (International)
Global AI Talent
  • Talent possessing international practical skills and global employability through international exchanges and joint educational programs. 
S (Skills)
Practical AI Talent
  • Talent with hands-on capabilities immediately applicable in the field, developed through project-based learning, COIL (Collaborative Online International Learning), and hackathons.
E (Embedded)
Settlement-Oriented AI Talent
  • Foreign talent who settle in Seoul and the domestic industry, contributing continuously to local innovation and growth.

■ Strategic Directions and Key Initiatives

  • We are developing and operating international joint AI programs to cultivate Hanyang University students as global AI talents.
  • We strengthen AI competencies through global exchanges and provide practice-oriented AI learning to build real-world skills.
  • Additionally, we enhance the attraction of international AI talent by operating inbound programs that invite overseas students to Korea.

Project Implementation Structure

  • Under the Global Data Science Exchange Program, 30 students from Hanyang University’s Department of Data Science will be dispatched to UT Austin, while 20 students from UT Austin’s iSchool will be invited to Hanyang University.
